What is a Downdraft Table?

A downdraft workstation provides the user with a solid platform and a downward airflow.  That airflow is capable of pulling dust and debris into the cabinet instead of the surroundings.  Very popular with craftspeople, this unit serves a purpose as a grinding table or sanding station.  It is useful beyond woodworking as well.

Sanding Station / Grinding Table

Think about as you sand and cut wood and it scatters throughout your shop and floor.  Picture instead, a sanding workstation that collects the dust and larger particles as you work.  Then, easily empty the trap at the bottom when you’re done.Although not limited to a sanding station or grinding table, it is a popular use.

Downdraft Table Features

Th DT-350 is constructed of welded steel.  Our downdraft table also features a view window.  The window flips up and down on a hinge and features an easy to replace mylar protected layer.  The window nor the protective sheet  DO NOT provide impact protection.  Over time repeated contact from dust and small particles could damage the window.  The replaceable sheet simply prolongs the life of viewing glass.    In addition to the large view window, the DT-350 downdraft table includes a single light and on/off switch.  A user supplied bulb means you can use a CFL or LED with a spectrum you prefer.

Downdraft Airflow

First, it provides 350 CFM of air movement, a tremendous amount of airflow.  Next, the DT-350 is not intended for flammable or other hazardous materials.  Instead, it is ideal for small tool work where large debris is present such as sanding, grinding, or small abrasive blasting projects.  Next, a powerful 1/3 horsepower motor generates the airflow.  Finally, a large replaceable cartridge filter protects the motor.

Downdraft Table Uses

If you wonder what you can do with a downdraft table, here is an example.  A downdraft table is very useful as a woodworking bench.  Drilling, sanding and sawing produces dust and large pieces of wood debris.  Keep your workspace cleaner by using a downdraft table.  The airflow pulls dust and debris down through the perforated steel tabletop.  Again, no hazardous or flammable material should be used with this unit, it is not designed for this purpose.  Finally,  the unit is constructed of 16 gauge welded steel.  Thus, this unit is very sturdy.

Sanding Station | Sanding Downdraft Table | Grinding Table

Popular with woodworkers, this unit easily captures wood fragments sand particles during sanding.  The flip-top window allows easy access to the parts during or after use.  The well lit tabletop makes the DT-350 an ideal sanding station or sanding downdraft table.  It also makes an excellent grinding station by capturing particles and debris created during grinding.
